Man charged with attempted murder in Little Rapids

Male arrested for attempt murder

LITTLE RAPIDS – On December 27, 2016 shortly after 2 p.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a weapons call at a residence located in Little Rapids, Ontario involving an edged weapon. 

A 70-year-old male was located inside the residence with serious injuries and was transported to hospital by Algoma District Paramedic Services.

 A second victim, a 51-year-old male, was also assaulted during the altercation but did not sustain injuries.

This was an isolated incident and there is no public safety risk at this time.    

As a result, Samuel Boileau, 26 years old, of Little Rapids, Ontario, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder, contrary to section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and,
  • Assault with a weapon (X2), contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 28, 2016.

The East Algoma OPP, East Algoma OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), under the Direction of Detective Staff Sergeant Tina Chalk of the OPP Criminal Investigations Branch, are continuing the investigation.
