Male charged with assault after headbutting incident

An argument led to a man being headbutted and suffering a cut on the bridge of his nose

THESSALON - On March 26, 2018, shortly after 6 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that had occurred at a local laundromat on Frances Street in the Town of Thessalon.

A male was at the laundromat when another male walked by and began to taunt him through a window. The complainant exited the laundromat and an argument ensued where the male uttered to physically harm the complainant. The complainant was then headbutted and suffered a cut on the bridge of his nose.   

The male was located and arrested on March 27, 2018.

As a result of the investigation, Mark Vasey, 32 years of age, from Thessalon, Ontario was charged with:

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Uttering Threats-Cause Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC;
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1 of the CC; and with
  • Breach of Recognizance, contrary to section 811 of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on April 5, 2018.
