Local man charged after collision with transport

JOHNSON TOWNSHIP - On March 26, 2018 shortly after 1 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision (MVC) on Highway 17 in Johnson Township.

Investigation determined that a tractor trailer and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with no driver's side rear view mirror and towing a trailer entered an eastbound passing lane in-between Desbarats and Bruce Mines. 

As the tractor trailer was overtaking the SUV, it veered left into the right front fender, right front tire and fuel tank of the tractor trailer. Both vehicles pulled over and no one sustained any injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Dave Beck, 62 years of from Sault Ste Marie, Ont. was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with change lane - not in safety, contrary to section 142(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
