Stopping vehicles at Kent's Corners. Stopping and checking vehicles.

At least seven OPP vehicles gathered this afternoon at Humbug Point on the west side of the Highway 548 bridge leading onto St. Joseph Island.

Freelance journalist Donna Schell reports that Traffic heading onto the island began to resume around 5 p.m. after being halted for roughly 45 minutes. Vehicles are being allowed off the island, but the west lane, where the police attention appears to be concentrated, was until recently, closed.

Police vehicles have since left the scene.

An officer at the scene declined to say what caused the lane closure.
