Guns, jewelry reported stolen in Heyden area break and enter

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reports that firearms and jewelry were stolen during a break-in near Heyden.

The incident occurred sometime between Oct. 9 and Oct. 16.

AWERES TOWNSHIP - On Oct. 16, 2020 at approximately 8:45 p.m., members from the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter that occurred sometime between Oct. 9, 2020 and Oct. 16, 2020 at a residence on Linden Drive in Aweres Township.

Investigation determined forced entry was made into the residence and once inside, the suspect(s) stole numerous items.

Description of property stolen:
    •    308 bolt action Browning rifle serial # 663777
    •    32 lever action Winchester rifle serial # 2460916
    •    Pellet gun
    •    Assortment of jewelry

Sault Ste. Marie OPP is requesting anyone with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this crime should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
