OPP charge suspended driver TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE – On March 10, 2016, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on regular patrol duties on Highway 17, east of Algoma Mills, ON. At 2:19 p.m.

TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE – On March 10, 2016, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on regular patrol duties on Highway 17, east of Algoma Mills, ON.  At 2:19 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle on Highway 17. A traffic stop was initiated. The investigation revealed the driver was suspended. 

Alyssa Davies, 28 years of age, from New Market, ON, was charged with:  Drive While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on April 27, 2016.

SPANISH – On the evening of March 10, 2016, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) set up the R.I.D.E program on Trunk Road in the town of Spanish.

At 8:27 p.m. a vehicle came through the R.I.D.E. program.  As a result of the vehicle stop officers seized over 100 gram of cannabis marihuana and the driver was arrested.

Cody Sabourin, 29 years of age from Sudbury, ON, was charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana, Over 1 gram, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs Substances Act; and
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana, Over 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs Substances Act;

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 5, 2016.

Suspended driver charged

IRON BRIDGE - On March 11, 2016, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17 in the town of Iron Bridge.

At 1:19 a.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, it was determined the driver was a suspended driver.

Gregory Frees, 31 years of age, from Calgary, AB was charged with:

  • Driving Under Licence of Other Jurisdiction While Suspended in Ontario, contrary to section 36 of the Highway Traffic Act; and
  • Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.

 The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on April 27, 2016.
