THE CLEAN UP CONTINUES

Mekatina, Ont.,

The clean up of a train derailment north of Sault Ste Marie continued throughtout the night last night.

Ontario Provincial Police in Sault Ste Marie and across the Northeast Region played a part in the clean up last night. An abnormal, oversized, slow moving crane from Hamilton, Ontario is needed on the site to play a major role in the removal of debris from the tracks.

Normally all oversized loads are not permitted to travel after dark. There is an exception granted under the Highway Traffic Act for such an emergency. OPP cruiser's from across the Northeast Region provided a wide load escort for this crane until it reached its destination in Sault Ste Marie.

The crane was expected to arrive on the site by daybreak.
