A 23-year-old Sault Ste. Marie resident faces multiple charges after an incident earlier this week, Sault Ste. Marie OPP stated in a news release today.

Police say while on patrol around 6:15 p.m. yesterday, they saw the accused speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on Second Line.

Police stopped the vehicle and say as the accused pulled over to the right, they crashed into another vehicle that pulled over ahead of them.

Police say they determined the driver was impaired by alcohol, and as a result, Jordan Arruda, 23, was arrested and faces mutliple charges (listed below).

The full release is as follows:

On Monday Mar. 7, 2022 shortly after 6:15 p.m., members from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties in the City of Sault Ste Marie.

Shortly after 6:15 p.m., police observed a silver car weaving in and out of traffic on Second Line and travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect silver car pulled over to the right, along with another vehicle in front. As the lead vehicle stopped the silver car collided into the lead vehicle as it came to a stop.

While speaking to the driver of the silver car, police determined alcohol had been consumed. Police located open beer cans and cannabis that were readily available to the driver. The driver was arrested and transported to Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, Jordan Arruda, 23 years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie, was charged with:

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on Apr. 4, 2022.
