Elliot Lake man charged with impaired

ELLIOT LAKE - On Sept. 9, 2017 at 4:24 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members received a call of a motor vehicle being driven by a possible impaired male driver. The vehicle was observed just south of the City of Elliot Lake. 

Police stopped the vehicle a short time later and spoke to the male driver.  A strong odour alcohol was detected emanating from his breath. Subsequently, the male was arrested and his driver's license suspended.

Michael Levesque, 36 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Oct. 3, 2017.

The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Report impaired drivers. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
