Driver charged with impaired in Wawa when vehicle leaves roadway

A single-vehicle crash in Wawa has led to impaired driving charges for a Wawa resident, OPP say.

Police say they received reports of a car crash on Harbour Rd. in Wawa around 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Responding officers report seeing a pickup truck that left the roadway and ended up several feet down an embankment. 

As a result of the investigation, Victor Lucas, 35, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 14, 2020, in Wawa.
