MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES - On Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, shortly after 8 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Thessalon Detachment, the OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) team and with the assistance of Algoma Paramedic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a bicycle on Highway 17 west of Dayton Road in the Municipality of Huron Shores.

Investigation determined that a female cyclist was westbound on Highway 17 when she was struck from the rear by a westbound car.

Amy Jaye Willson, 31 years of age from South Africa was pronounced deceased at the scene. Post mortem to be conducted with a date to be determined.

The investigation is ongoing.

Highway 17 re-opened at 5:33 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018.
