Collision results in impaired driving charge for Echo Bay man

ST JOSEPH TOWNSHIP - On Jan. 10, 2019 shortly before 1:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision at the junction of 10th Side Road and F and G Line in St. Joseph Township.

Police attended the scene and observed a vehicle in the eastside ditch on 10th Side Road. As the officer was speaking to the male driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol. 

The male was arrested and transported to Thessalon detachment where the male provided two breath samples of over 145 milligrams of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

As a result of the investigation, Michael Entwhistle, 68 years of age from Echo Bay, Ont. was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol, contrary to section 320.14 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and with
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration - 80 plus, contrary to section 320.14 (1)(b) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Feb. 14, 2019.
