Coins, stamps stolen in Canada Post break and enter

RICHARDS LANDING - On Aug. 16, 2018, before 4:30 a.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police Thessalon Detachment responded to an alarm at Canada Post office in the Town of Richards Landing.

Police arrived a short time later to find a window at the front of building that had been broken in and the frame completely removed. Two coins were stolen and are described as: a pure silver coin branded as Glistening North ($20 value) showing a snowy area with a wolf as the main focus of the coin. The second coin is called Celebration of Spring, Apple Blossoms ($15 value), which contained an image of an apple tree with blossoms with Canada 2018 written on it. Also stolen was a 25 pack of 85 cent stamps ($21.25 value). The stamps have an image of a dog.

A check of the area revealed that approximately four cars had also been entered. Reports also came in of vehicles in Bruce Mines that had been entered, with debit cards and possibly credit cards taken.

These investigation are continuing.
