Blind River woman accused of stealing from Tarbutt trading post

East Algoma OPP have charged a Blind River woman after a theft at a Tarbutt-Tarbutt Township trading post.

Police say they responded to the theft at a Highway 17 and Highway 548 trading post on Friday shortly after 8:00 p.m. 

In a press release issued today, OPP say the accused stole a pair of moccasins and left in a white pick-up truck, eastbound on Highway 17.

OPP patrolled Highway 17 and located the vehicle west of Blind River, where a traffic stop was initiated. 

The passenger of the vehicle, Amanda Leclair, 35 from Blind River, was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 - shoplifting, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 6, 2021.
