Blind River man charged with assault after consensual fight

BLIND RIVER, ON)- On April 21, 2018, shortly after 1:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute at a residence on Huron Street in the Town of Blind River.

Investigation determined that a consensual fight had taken place between a son and his father. The son was under influence of an unknown drug and was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace. He was lodged until sober. 

On April 22, 2018, shortly after 6:00 a.m., the male was released from custody. Fifteen minutes later police received another call from the residence on Huron Street. At this time the son had entered the residence and physically assaulted his father.

As a result of the investigation, Kaleb GAILLARD, 22 years of age from Blind River, Ontario was charged with:

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Uttering Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC; and with
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 7, 2018.
