'Altercation involving vehicle' leads to charges in Wawa

32-year-old from Timmins faces assault, impaired driving charges

A Timmins resident faces a number of charges following an assault that allegedly occurred in Wawa Sunday evening.

Shortly after 10 p.m., officers responded to the Churchill Avenue area for “an altercation involving a motor vehicle,” says a news release issued by Superior East OPP.

As a result, 32-year-old Clayton Desousa is charged with:

    •    Assault with a weapon
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    •    Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
    •    Failure to stop after accident

Desousa is set to appear in court on July 10.

None of the allegations have been tested in court, and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
