$30,000 worth of drilling equipment stolen from cube van

The theft happened some time over the weekend

East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the theft of $30,000 worth of drilling equipment from a cube van in Wells Township.

At some time between noon on Friday, Aug. 5 and 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, someone cut the padlock from the door of the cube van and unloaded the equipment.

On August 8, 2022, members from the East Algoma Thessalon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a drilling equipment theft from a cube van that was parked at MacCallum Road and Highway 129 in Wells Township. (Approximately 18 kilometres north of the Town of Thessalon).

Investigation determined sometime between 12:00 p.m. on Friday August 5, 2022, and 8:00 a.m. on Monday August 8, 2022, the culprit(s) cut off a padlock from the secured roll up door of the cube van gaining access to steal items from inside the cube van. (Photos attached)

Items stolen were:

  • Two Husqvarna Concrete Core Drills
  • Husqvarna Power Pack Drill
  • Husqvarna Stand
  • Hilti Drill model 500
  • Hilti Drill model 300
  • Diamond Drill Core Bits (variable sizes)
  • 2022 Yamaha Dirt Bike
  • FXR helmet
  • Motorcycle Boots and Gloves
  • Other miscellaneous tools and extension cords

Approximate value of items stolen is $30,000.
