WINGHAM, Ont. — A hospital in a small Ontario community is temporarily closing its emergency department again.
The Listowel-Wingham Hospital Alliance says the ER at its Wingham hospital will be closed from Monday at 5 p.m. until Tuesday at 7 a.m.
The closure follows another overnight shutdown on Sunday, and several temporary emergency department closures throughout the summer.
Patients are being referred to other hospitals in the area.
The hospital alliance is attributing the latest closure to ongoing staff shortages.
Limited health-care staff resources have prompted similar measures at other Ontario hospitals over the last several months.
