Tractor-trailer driver charged in fatal Highway 401 crash that left three dead: OPP

Ontario Province Police have charged a tractor-trailer driver involved in a collision that killed three people on Highway 401 last month. 

Two other people were sent to hospital after the April 18, 2022 collision that occurred on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401, just east of Maitland, in Augusta Township.

The OPP say Mehakdeep Singh, 25, of Brampton, Ont., was arrested and charged with three counts of causing death by criminal negligence and criminal negligence causing bodily harm. 

The accused has been released following a bail hearing. 

Police say the investigation is ongoing. 

The force is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dash camera footage of it to contact police.
