TORONTO — Police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a three-year-old boy was struck and killed by a car in Toronto's west end.
Police say a man and two children were hit by the vehicle this morning near the intersection of Burnhamthorpe Road and The East Mall in Etobicoke.
Toronto police Sgt. Brett Moore says the three-year-old boy had no vital signs when emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Moore says the boy succumbed to his injuries, while the victim's older sister was taken to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car was also taken to hospital.
Moore says police are looking for help from anyone who saw what happened or has dashboard camera video of the incident.
"We do have accounts of folks that were here (and) even spoke to police in the initial minutes ... and then left," Moore said in a video posted to Twitter.
"We're looking for those folks to come back and connect with us."
Police said roads in the area would be closed until later in the afternoon.
