Quebec police make arrest after family dispute sends four to hospital

LONGUEUIL, Que. — Police south of Montreal say they arrested a man following an alleged family dispute on Tuesday that sent four people to hospital.

Longueuil, Que., police say they responded to a call and arrived to a residential building to witness the suspect in an altercation with another man outside.

They say the suspect was allegedly armed with an object and rushed at an officer, who discharged their service weapon. No one was struck with bullets.

The 36-year-old suspect was arrested by other police officers who had arrived on the scene as backup. 

Four people were taken to hospital with injuries police said were not life-threatening.

A police spokesman said today a team of mental health and social workers was dispatched to meet with the family, which included young children.
