(1925-2021) - With sadness, we announce the death of Anne Zeppa in her 96th year, at home as she wished. Dear wife of the late Joseph Zeppa. Cherished mother of Cathy Beaudette (Reg), Joanne (Jack Potvin), Linda, Joe (Lisa), Steve (Emmie) and the late Karen (John Coyne). Loving Grannie Annie of Michelle Beaudette (Pete), Marc Beaudette (Sandra), Katya Sodamin, Matthew Sodamin, Jillian Zeppa (Steve), Joseph Zeppa, Ryan Zeppa, Elizabeth Zeppa, Laura Coyne, Heather Coyne, and the late Annie Coyne. Proud great grandmother of Quinn Fisher. Daughter of the late Katherine and Joseph Pohrybnuk. Predeceased by her siblings Mary Fletcher, Josie Dimicoli and John.

When Annie married Joe Zeppa, she inherited seven brothers-in-law and their wives and a sister-in-law. Zeppa gatherings were full of fun and laughter. We had many cousins! Anne was the last remaining member of that generation of the Joe Zeppa Family and the Pohrybnuks. She told many stories of family events and characters from five generations. Her memory was clear and lucid until the end.

Anne left school, as many did, after receiving her SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE at the end of grade 10. During WWII she worked at Capy’s Restaurant and the Steel Plant.  In 1946 she married and became a typical 1950s housewife – baking, cooking, canning, and sewing most of our clothes. 25 years later, she re-entered the work force. After a few years in a fabric shop, she bought the store and changed the name to A–Z Fabrics. She was successful, and we got to watch the Community Day Parade from a prime spot on Queen St. During this time, she was a founding member of the local Zonta Club.

After retirement Joe and Anne visited Seattle every year to see Linda and her family. Of course, a side trip to Vegas was usually included. Many trips were taken to Southern Ontario to see the rest of the kids and grandkids. They loved their trips to Florida and Hawaii. After Joe died, Anne filled her time shopping, at the casino, and especially at the BINGO. She was always proud of the fact that she lived long enough to introduce all of her grandkids, nieces, and nephews, to BINGO.

Anne was a fighter, feisty and funny. She was a woman ahead of her time. We are sure that God has already been convinced that heaven needs a BINGO hall. She will be missed.
