Passed away at Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the age of 86, Phyllis was the beloved wife of Harold Brain and the late Dr. Donald Wallace. She was the loved mother of Kim, Greg (Stephanie), David (Elaine) and step-mother of David (Nadine), Kevin (Charmaine) and Daryl (Andrea). Phyllis was also a proud grandmother of Broc, Sasha, Megan, Aaron and Donald, Rachel, Katrina, Jamie, Alex, Adam, Benjamin and Steven, and great grandmother to Mason. She is fondly remembered by her sisters Connie (late Lorne) and Betty (Al), and brother-in-law Ralph (Cathy).
Phyllis was born and raised in the Eastern Townships of Quebec and graduated from McGill University. In 1955 she married Donald Wallace and moved to Sault Ste. Marie where they raised their family, made lifelong friends and were actively involved in the church and community. Following Don’s passing, Phyllis married Harold Brain in 2001, and they spent the years together enjoying each other’s company, traveling, and watching their families grow.
Phyl would like us to remember all the good times with the bridge groups, cottage goers, skating community and church group. The family would like to thank our neighbours, friends and medical caregivers for their kind and caring support. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Emmaus Anglican Church (1643 Wellington St. E.) on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 3:00 pm, followed by an informal celebration of life at the Canadian Heritage Bushplane Centre (50 Pim St) from 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm. Please drop by. Memorial donations made to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, ARCH or Emmaus Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
