Suddenly at home on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the age of 71. Best friend and husband of Wendy for nearly 48 years. Treasured father of Jonathan Upton (Heddy) and Sarah Haimerl. Loving grandpa of Hannah, Hayley, Madeleine, Holly, Heidi, and Gregory. Anyone who knew Ford will remember his joyful laugh and helpful nature. He made many lasting friendships from his years volunteering as league director and refereeing minor hockey in the Sault. His hearty laugh was a familiar sound ringing out across many branches of the Royal Bank, which was where he spent the majority of his career in financial services. After his retirement, he continued his community involvement with the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore, where he made a lasting impact on many in various roles, including President, Treasurer, and was honoured as Kiwanian of the Year. The hunt camp on Manitoulin will never quite be the same. As active as he was, he loved the tranquility of the home he shared with Wendy on Goulais Bay, where he particularly enjoyed catching their dinner off the end of his dock, or in his ice hut. The fish in the bay can all rest easy now! He was a generous, friendly, and helpful neighbour, friend, dad, grandpa and husband, always willing to lend a hand, play a game or shoot the breeze, and never without a laugh or two (or ten)! He will be missed by so many. Ford's wishes were to be cremated and have his remains scattered to the Earth and Water at his residence by his immediate family. Friends may honour his memory by living life to the fullest, and stopping to appreciate the little joys of the everyday, just as he did his entire life.  Memorial donations to the War Amps of Canada, or a charity of choice, would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

The best things in life aren't things.
