On Friday, March 17, 2023, James passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, at the age of 70. He was born on December 11, 1952 to the late Helen Purdy (the late Fred) and the late William Stewart. James is survived and will be missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy (nee Paquette) and his children Shaun of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Andrea Barkley (Ken) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Forever cherished and remembered by his only grandchild, Kaitlyn Barkley and his many nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by his only sibling Eric Stewart (Lynda) of Woodstock, Ontario. He will be fondly remembered by his Uncle Tom (Daphne) of Peterborough, Ontario and the Paquette family and his many close friends. James will be missed by Mr. Fudd, his beloved sphynx cat of 12 years, who stayed by his side until his very last day.

We appreciate the compassionate care that Dr. J. Bishop, Dr. K. Booth and Dr. A. Apostle provided James and the family. Thank you, Jamie, Cathy and Andrea from Bayshore Home Health for being wonderful caring nurses. We appreciate everyone for all they did to help James and our family through our trying time.
As per James’ wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. We invite you to celebrate James’ memory privately in your own way. We know that he will be with us all in spirit.
