With heavy hearts and great sorrow, the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Alex, aged 69, while at North Shore Health Network (NSHN)-Blind River. Soul mate, best friend and beloved husband of Deb (nee Muldoon). Predeceased by his parents Bahia (nee Kassis) and Norman Solomon. Proud father of Jonathan and Nathan and stepfather of Christopher and Adam. Loving grandpa of Jayda, Ethan, Owen and Jaxon. Brother of David (Donna Coulter) and Pat Rundle (Bruce). Uncle of Jennifer Cloutier-Jury (Jamie), Jennifer Dunn (Sean), Brandi Muldoon (Randy Reid) and Victor Muldoon (Jessica Labelle). First cousin of Marcia Barnes, Lauren Meegan, Catherine Green, late Charmaine Pitre, late Sheldon Roux, Akel Jarrouge (Vera) and late Salwa Shamas (Norman). Son in law of Leslie and Anastasia Muldoon and brother-in-law of Brian Muldoon. He will be forever missed by his best friend Armand Pitre. Alex is lovingly remembered by numerous friends, neighbours and the greater Blind River community. He will be sadly missed by his Masonic Brethren at Penewobikong Lodge No. 487, Blind River, York Rite No. 527, Espanola, Scottish Rite, Valley of Sault Ste. Marie, as well as the Mocha Shriners, London.

Alex was born and raised in Blind River and was very proud of his Lebanese heritage. He was deeply dedicated to serving the town and the people of Blind River. He was a town councillor for 17 years, volunteered on several committees and boards including the NSHN Board, the Blind River Police Services Board, and was proprietor of the Palace Theatre for many years.  He was a beloved educator in the elementary public school system, teaching in the area for 25 plus years. Alex was a very devoted husband and father as well as a loving grandpa. He delighted in meeting people and honoured his many friendships. Alex was a strong and faithful servant of God, family and community.

Alex, Deb and family would like to thank Dr. Mark Deverell, The Venerable Roberta Wilson-Garrett, Mr. Richard Joly CEO NSHN, Amanda Knuff, the nurses and the entire staff at NSHN-Blind River for their compassionate care and for going above and beyond.

Donations in memory of Alex can be made to NSHN-Blind River Site/Palliative Care Program and are appreciated by the family. Donations can be made at the funeral service. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Sellers Park Pavilion, Lakeside Avenue across from Menard Funeral Home in Blind River beginning at 11:00 am with The Venerable Roberta Wilson-Garrett and The Reverend Canon Robert Elkin officiating. Please bring your own chair and umbrella. Following funeral services, an outdoor luncheon will be held at 3 Buchan Avenue in Blind River. Social distancing, masks, guest sign in sheet for contact tracing and hand sanitization mandatory.

Members of the Masonic Order are requested to assemble at Menard Funeral Home on Saturday, August 14 at 10:15 am for a 10:30 am memorial service for their late Brother Alex Solomon.
