With great sadness and yet great joy, the family of Margaret share her peaceful home going surrounded by loving cousins on July 28, 2021 in her 96th year, at the Sault Area Hospital.

Loving wife of the late James (Jim) Snider for 42 years. Daughter of the late John and Ethel White.  Predeceased by her infant brother, Stuart Andrew. Sadly missed by a large extended family that both Margaret and Jim had fostered close friendships with.

Margaret was raised on a farm in Johnson Township 4 miles west of Bruce Mines. She attended the old Red School just across the highway. After graduating from Grade 8 in 1939, she attended Bruce Mines Secondary School, often biking the whole distance. In Grade 13, she along with 2 friends completed her high school education at Sault Collegiate. After North Bay Teachers college, she would return to teach in Tarentorus and the Sault for 28 years. Marriage to Jim in 1969 would be culminated by the happy couple building a new home in the Sault. The purchase of Pine Peek farm in Jocelyn Township in 1979 brought a new adventure to them; old time country living together with community involvement for 28 years. A new century would see this popular couple “retire” to city living again.

Margaret attained a new standard of excellence in the education area, serving as speech consultant in the early 60’s. In 1971 the speech correction, remedial reading and learning disabilities services were combined, with Margaret being assigned three schools. Her retirement passion was researching her family history and she was the driving force in the planning of the Thompson, White, Pinnell and Young reunions.

Special thanks to the staff at Pathways Retirement Home for their care and compassion over the last 10 years.  Thank you to the staff of Birch Lane 3 at the F.J. Davey Home for their care over the last month.  Also thank you to the staff in Emergency and 3B at the Sault Area Hospital, especially nurses Andrew, Brandon and Stephanie for their care and professionalism.
