Carl Sloan
September 24, 1931 - May 3, 2023

The fish have stopped biting; it’s time to go home. Peacefully, on May 3, 2023, our father Carl passed away at the Maxville Manor in Maxville, Ontario. He will be greatly missed by his children, Sean, Dan (Sue) and Monica (Gerry) and by his sisters Glenda and Joan, and nephews, Stephen, Gordon and James Bilton.  He is pre-deceased by his wife Joan (nee Bilton), and by his brothers Raymond, Eldon and Douglas and by his sisters, Zita and Claire. Dad was a beloved and long-time friend to many people from Canada and the USA that he met as an owner/operator of Bilton’s at Chiblow Lake.  He will be sorely missed by his extended fishing family, especially the Murphys.  A funeral mass will be held at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Blind River, Ontario on Friday, June 16 at 12 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Church Hall. The family would like to thank the staff at Maxville Manor for the outstanding care and making Dad feel at home as a resident for the past two years.  Their compassion and dedication to elder care is second to none. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the Maxville Manor Foundation (https://maxvillemanor.ca) , Blue Fish Canada( https://bluefishcanada.ca/) or to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (https://www.cnib.ca/) Funeral Arrangements under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd, Alexandria, Ontario, 613-525-2772.
