Unexpectedly at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, May 29, 2023 at the age of 92. 

Beloved husband of Doreen for 65 years. Cherished father of Michael, Paul (late Bernadette), Jean Marie Rushon (Barry), and Neil. Proud grandfather of Ryan Gratton (Cristie-Anne), Marc Gratton (Karly), Emma Bergamin (J.J), Brendan Simard (Tosha), Luke Simard (Samantha), and Megan Simard. Step-grandfather of Ali Gibbon (Bryce), and Noah Rushon (Tiana). Great-grandfather of Bohden, Evangeline, Arlette, and Asher, Bennett, and Ella. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Margaret Simard, and his loving step-mother Gertrude. Brother of the late Laurie (Donna). Brother-in-law of Barbara Weiler (Art), Jim Canning (Glennis), and the late Fred Canning (late Vivian). Harold will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Harold was a motor inspector at Algoma Steel for 35 years, and enjoyed retirement for 38 years. He was a member of the first senate at St. Gerard Majella Church, and volunteered there in many capacities. Prince Lake brought him peace and tranquility, watching the loons, and was a renowned barbecue chef. During his retirement, he enjoyed travelling the world. He was an avid supporter of the sports in which his children and grandchildren participated. 

Family and friends are invited to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522), on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 6 pm until 9 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Gerard Majella Church (211 Pentagon Blvd.), on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 3 pm with Rev. Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. Memorial contributions payable by cheque to St. Gerard Majella Building Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
