With broken hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of Donna, surrounded by love at her home on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the age of 61. Cherished and loved wife of Terry who together recently celebrated 41 years of marriage. Much loved mother of Terry (Sarah) and Trisha Daynard (Travis). Proud Grammie of Abbigail and Colton Daynard. Reunited with her parents the late Harold and Jackie Kirk. Dear sister of Randy Kirk (Bonnie). Daughter-in-law of the late Alfred and Jean Shewfelt. Respected and loved by Terry’s twin brother Gary and the late Cap Shewfelt. Cherished Aunt of Tanya (Charles), Kali (Jason), Jamie (Brandon), Josh, Zach (Morgan) and great aunt of Becky, Josh, Brody and Aubrey. Donna held a special place in her heart for many, especially Greg, Lindsay and Care Bear. Whenever Donna was surrounded by her grandchildren she beamed with happiness. She proudly supported them in all of their endeavors right until the very end and she will remain in their hearts forever. They adored her, as much as she adored them. Donna always put everyone else’s needs before her own. Her tireless work ethic, positive attitude, and sense of humour was admired by many. Donna was the glue that held everyone together and was always able to find the silver lining in some of life’s toughest times. If you couldn’t find Donna at the ball field or the hockey rink, she was likely at the bingo hall. Some of Donna’s fondest memories were spent at the Thessalon Family Ball Tournament and she cherished being welcomed into the Paat family. Donna was an incredibly loyal and dedicated employee at Matthews Memorial Hospital for 42 years. She respected and cared deeply for her work family and created lasting friendships that she held dear to her heart. Friends and family are invited to gather at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Port Findlay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to North Shore Health Network (NSHN) Auxiliary – Matthews Site. The family would like to thank Amy Shoust for going above and beyond to make Donna’s last days comfortable.
