At the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice (Kanata, ON) on November 13, Michael left this earth. He was in his 86th year. Predeceased by his wife of 31 years (Darlene) and their son Andrew Mark. Mike was a 35-year veteran of the Force, a 27-year member of the Veterans’ Association, a 37-member of Scouts Canada (Akela 109th Hawthorne Cub Pack), Medal of Merit recipient and Little League Coach (Crickets). He will be greatly missed by his family, son Michael (Erika), grandchildren Jamie, Dana, Mitchell, son Philip and grandson Jesse. He leaves behind his loving companion of 26 years Joan Ellis (a devoted Grandma to her grandchildren) a sister Dorothy and her family, a brother Allan (Rita) and family. He wishes to THANK Drs. J. Rubens and R. Hessian and staff of the Heart Institute in 2012 for the work they did in keeping him alive this long. He sends his THANKS to Dr. Nadler and the staff of the Kidney Clinic, the doctors and staff of the Home Dialysis Unit of the Riverside Hospital and the nurses from Bayshore Home Health. SPECIAL thanks to Lynda, Nancy and Joy from Healing Pathway for their many visits to home and hospital. The family is very appreciative of the care and kindness of staff at the Ruddy- Shenkman Hospice. Mike had remarkable memories of his service in NS, the NWT and HDQ VIP SECTION during the 70’s. He was presented to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and various members of the Royal Family on numerous occasions. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 18, at 1 p.m. at Tubman Funeral Homes, Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, NEPEAN. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.
