March 14, 2021 – March 29, 2021

Born at London Victoria Children’s Hospital at 26 weeks, weighing 2 pounds 3 ounces. Leaving behind great sadness and broken hearts, Lucas Alexander Shell passed away in the arms of daddy Jordan Shell and mommy Nicole Bellerive. Lucas has left behind his sister Adelina and brother Carter. With great sadness Lucas has also left behind his grandparents Kathy Shell, Shari Charette (Dennis Hache) and his great grandfather Ernie Shell.

Nicole was flown to London Victoria Children’s Hospital at 23 weeks due to severe complications. Unexpectedly, Lucas made his arrival at 26 weeks with various complications. Lucas was a fighter, he fought very hard to stay with us, but he could not fight any longer. God has taken him to a better place where he will no longer be suffering. His late papa Mario Bellerive is waiting to greet him with open arms. Along with his great grandparents Julliette (Alexander) Bellerive and Fred (Janet) Charette, Bonnie Aleixandre and Reta Gernon. He will be deeply missed by many aunts and uncles; Kayla (Makayla) godparents of Lucas, Kyrsten, Jessica (Danny), Melanie (Marc), Scott (Brianna), Robbie (Erin), Chantalle (Pat), Aimee and Jordan. He will be greatly missed by many great aunts and uncles. Lucas had many cousins that were excited to meet him; Axel, Tyson, Tayah, Layla, Brooklyn, Lily, Eli and Ryder.

Jordan and Nicole would like to thank London Victoria Children’s Hospital for their care and compassion antenatal when she first arrived. When Lucas arrived, he had phenomenal care in the NICU Unit. Extra special thanks go out to nurses Becky, Abbey, Wendy, Aaron, Respiratory Therapists; Keri, Marylou, Chrysti, and Carol. Thank you to the amazing Doctor Renjini who stayed by Lucas’ side each and everyday.

And thank you to Ronald McDonald House London for the accommodations during this difficult time.

We would also like to thank all our family and friends for all their love and support during this tough time. Thank you to Aunty Ruthann Wilson for her team Lucas t-shirts and Denise Grisdale for the car stickers. Thank you everyone for all the generous donations, Jordan’s sister Kyrsten who set up the GoFundMe page, Tracey Brush for the donation campaign, and all the other various ways we have received donations. It was greatly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.

A celebration of life will take place April 10th, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Please contact any family member for information about the location.

Memorial donations in Lucas’ name to Children’s Health Foundation (London Victoria Children’s Hospital) online at https://childhealth.ca/ or payable by cheque would be greatly appreciated by the family.
