SHAULE, Maxwell 'Max'

Posted

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in Chateauguay, QC, at the age of 85. Max was the loved partner for the past 14 years to Richard LeCompte. They very much enjoyed planting and working in their community garden where Richard did much of the heavier work and Max then made all the preserves, pickles, loaves etc. Max was born and lived as a child in the town of Cloudslee (Bruce Mines area) and when he started his working career in the bank, he moved to some remote northern areas but eventually ended up living in Montreal and surrounding cities. He eventually left the bank and ended his working days with Peerless Electric and then settled in Chateauguay, where he made many friends.

Max enjoyed keeping up with the news of his home area where he grew up and has subscribed to the North Shore Sentinel for many years. He played bridge, enjoyed cards (always a very competitive player) and bingo, and as well, he played piano or the organ at his United Church in Howick. Max made and donated scarves, mitts, slippers, hats, etc. to the Tree of Hope at his church each Christmas.

Max was predeceased by his parents, George and Mabel Shaule, sisters Elva Wilding (George), Gwen McPhee (Neil) and brother Dawson Shaule. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Shaule as well as many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews in Sault Ste. Marie, Southern and Eastern Ontario and across Canada. Max always took an interest in all of his nieces and nephews lives and his door was always open to welcome you. He will also be missed by his furry four-legged feline, Surprise.

There will be a Church Service, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Howick United Church, 2 Bridge St. Howick, QC J0S 1G0. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Howick United Church in memory of Max.
