SEMEDO, Leonilde

Passed away peacefully with her son by her side at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the age of 81. She joined her beloved husband Artur Semedo and revered parents Antonio Gomes and Gracinda Paulo in heaven. Loving mother of Fernando Gomes Semedo. Dear sister of Maria Alice Gomes, Zulmira Lopes (Antonio), Adélia Soeiro (Francisco), Fernando Gomes (Fernanda) and Graça Santos (Donaldo). Cherished sister-in-law of the late Maria Santos (Antonio) and the late Urvalina Santos (Viriato). Lee will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Immigrating to Canada from Portugal in 1962 to join her husband, she worked hard to provide a better life for her family and instil good principles in her son. She loved cooking, her rose and vegetable gardens, fado music and her home country of Portugal; especially the city of Coimbra and the village of Vila Boa. Friends may visit at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday May 23, 2017 from 6 – 9 pm. Funeral Mass to be celebrated from Our Lady of Good Counsel on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11 am.
