Scotland

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Jim in his 96th year at the F.J. Davey home on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Beloved husband of Gloria. Father of two sons Barry and Kevin (Cindy Biluk). Grandfather of three Thomas, Kathleen and Amanda. Great grandfather of five.

Jim was a World War 2 veteran with the Royal Air Force Second Tactical Unit serving overseas from 1943 – 1947.  He was awarded the Grand Master of the National Order of the Legion of Honour medal by the Government of France in June 2016.

Jim worked for the Department of Lands and Forest / Ministry of Natural Resources as a radio operator, communications technician and was promoted to Provincial Communications Supervisor retiring from the service in 1983. After retiring he was a founding member of the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, Jim and Gloria spent many hours volunteering their services on site and travelling with the outreach displays.

Leisure time was spent travelling, camping, walking the dog, Amateur Radio and attending games of his beloved Soo Greyhounds.

The family would like to thank Doctors Mark Edwards, Edward Hirvi and Jennifer Patterson and the staff of Apple 2 and Birch 3 for their patience and care. We also want to thank the health care providers who provided assistance at home prior to the move to F.J. Davey.

No funeral service is planned, a private family gathering will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, 432 Wing Air Force Association or the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). www.northwoodfuneral.com
