November 19, 1936 – September 11, 2020

Our Dad, Allen Rupp, passed away on September 11, 2020, after a short illness with his family by his side and virtually. Allen lived his life of 85 years, longing to wake up each morning to the sunrise on the West-end of lake Lauzon. He was married to Shirley Grignard for 23 years. Loving father to Scott (Jacqui), John (Blanca), Matt, and Mike Rupp. Stepfather to Nicole, Monique, Danielle (Chris) and Paul (Tina), Grignard. Dad will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Kristina, Kurtis, Allison, Jannai, Jordan, Bradley, Thomas, and Creegan. Allen is a dear brother to David, Mary (Eric), Stephen (Mary), Barbara (Neil) Rupp, and their families.

Dad Cherished his neighbors, friends, and the Blind River community, always being there to help. Later in life, friends and neighbors love him by supporting him after the passing of Shirley. Special thanks to the Personal Support Workers who unselfishly were always there caring for Allen as his health waned.

Allen spent his childhood summers in the mid-1930s on the West End of Lake Lauzon with his parents Allen Sr. and Jean Rupp, and family living a pioneer life fishing and hiking living a one-room Cottage. In his teenage years, he lived with members of the community along Robb Road. He permanently moved to the West End of Lake Lauzon in 1992, where he met his dear wife Shirley and became a special part of her children's lives.

Dad loved the Algoma District's natural beauty, often saying this is "God's country."  Allen is respectful of others with an easy personality. Dad was a handyman helping others. He loved woodworking, avid sailor, and the great outdoors.

Allen was born in Marietta, Ohio, in 1934, graduating from Ohio State University with advanced degrees from Bowling Green State University. Dad's career was in middle school education and school administration before retiring.

Due to travel restrictions, we will plan a Remembrance Celebration in July 2021 at the family cottage on Rupp's Bay on the West End of Lake Lauzon. Notices will be posted through a personal notification and on the family web site. http://thuid.org/~ruppsbay/
