Wayne Rivers

June 13, 1945 - May 23, 2022

With broken hearts we announce the passing of a partner, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Wayne passed at Golden Birches Terrace at the age of 76. Beloved partner and best friend of Kim McMurray. Loving and devoted father of Kim (Jack), Tanya, Alanna (Mike), Anthony (Brittany), Larry and Logan. Grandfather of 25 and great grandfather of 2. Brother of Tom (Rose) and Laurie (late Syd, Fabian). Best friend of Richard and Joyce, Nicole and Bob and Danny and Bonnie. Predeceased by his first wife Shelva “Shelly” Lepage, parents Harry Narry and Rita Bernadine Rivers (nee McGraw), his aunt Betty Rivers (late Frank), his brother-in-law Michael Lepage and pets Ringo, Tequila, Kovu and Tiny. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Wayne began his working career at the age of 15 when he signed on with the ACR Railroad. From there he held many jobs including driving transports, mail trucks and taxi cabs. He also worked as a security guard, firefighter and as a bear hunting and fishing guide. He was fortunate to have worked in Toronto, Sault Ste. Marie, Iron Bridge and all points in between.

Wayne was a loving, caring and thoughtful person and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He spoiled those he loved. He enjoyed working on vehicles and everything the outdoors offered. We will forever miss his jokes, smile and laughter.

Friends and family are invited to a graveside service at Bellingham Cemetery, Iron Bridge, on Thursday, May 26, 2022 beginning at 11am. Marilyn Billings officiating. A light luncheon will be held immediately afterwards at the Kynoch Hall.

The family wants to thank Dr. Chad Workman, Dr. Patterson and Dr. Hayes and their entire staff as well as the staff in Acute Care and Golden Birches Terrace at NSHN-Blind River. They also want to thank Christine Proulx and Wende Diemer from the Alzheimer’s Association and Wayne’s PSW worker Lisa Steeves.

If desired, the family appreciates donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca
