Margaret Rose Reid-Newell passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at the Plummer Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 5, 2003. Loving partner of many years to Barry Allen. Dear mother of Steven Reid (Lisa) of Goulais River, Travis Reid (Tracy) of Sault Ste. Marie and Tammy Reid (John Cleary) of Toronto. Dear grandmother of David and Riley. Margaret is the daughter of the late James William and Pauline (Hartman) Newell and loving niece of the late Marjorie and Bert Sims of Springfield, Ontario, who raised her with much care and affection. Loving sister of Patricia Marion (Frank) of Victoria and Robert Newell (Susan) of Ottawa. Margaret and her former husband, Gary Reid, raised their three children near the community of Bar River. We will always cherish Margaret's courageous spirit, quick laugh and her fondness for fun times with family and friends. Friends may call at the Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road, 945-7758) on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 10 at 1:30 p.m. with Mrs. Janet Norman officiating. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Women in Crisis.
