PETERS, Albert-BIO
Albert Peters

It is with profound sadness that we announce Bert’s passing. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy; father, mentor, and kindred spirit to Nick (Stacey) and Hilary; dear son of Ruth (late Jack) and brother to Ken (Luan), Susan, and Jack (Marisa). Treasured son-in-law to Vera Burgess (late Don). Brother-in-law and close friend to Donna, and fellow music lover and automobile enthusiast Nello. Much loved brother-in-law to Steve (Maria), Ken (Darlene) and Brian (Kathy) Burgess. Doggie dad and walking partner to little Mr. Feeny. Very special uncle to Julia (Marco) and Miriam (Chris), Eric, Olivia (Gavin) and Noah, Jill (Mike) and Mitch (Trish), Lauren (Steve) and Erika, Kyle, and Jamie. Great uncle to Juli and Joey, Mikenna and Everett, Cameron, and soon-to-enter-the-world Ophelia. Bert spent 25 years as dentist to many people in Sault Ste. Marie and cared for each and every one of his patients with the utmost respect and compassion. But, as he always said, “that was just my day job.” An avid snowmobiler and Harley rider, Bert was also a self-taught auto mechanic, contractor, and all around handyman for his entire family. He could fix anything, and if a solution did not exist, he invented one. Bert’s brilliance truly shone through in some of his more creative endeavours.

His home, which was both his workshop and his canvas, is a testament to his incredible skill, craftsmanship, and resourcefulness. Loved and respected by all his friends and family, Bert was always there for everyone without hesitation, whether it was to lend a helping hand or just listen. Well known to all of them for his special brand of humour. His absence will leave an enormous void in all of our lives. Friends may visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E) on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm. Memorial service to follow in the chapel at 3 pm. Mr. Andrew Sarlo officiating. Memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to A.R.C.H would be appreciated.
