PATRAKKA, Aarne

Posted

Aarne Patrakka was ushered into the presence of his Lord & Saviour after a mercifully brief struggle with cancer on Sunday, April 27, 2003 at the age of 76 with his family by his side. Born on May 7, 1926 in Pyhajarvi, Finland, he immigrated with his family to Canada in 1971. He enjoyed his life and worked here mainly in construction with the latter years fulfilled in spreading God's word. He is survived by his wife Jenny of 15 years and the beloved Isa of Seppo, Markku (Shirley), Sirkka Lutyk (Rainer) of Sudbury and Anne Geoffroy (Henry) of Barrie. The mother of the children, Helmi Tuovinen of Sudbury share in their sorrow. Much loved Pappa of Susan, Stacey, Kristi, Matthew, Anaka, Ashley, Kaitlin and Maiya and great granddaughter Tianna along with Jenny's children and grandchildren. Also sadly missed by his youngest brother Viljo and family of Iron Bridge along with many family members and friends in Canada and Finland. Being a pillar of faith and strength, he touched many lives with his generous loving spirit. As a faithful and integral part of the Finnish Pentecostal Church, he will be mourned by his fellow parishioners. Friends may call at the Finnish Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, April 30 for a funeral service at 1:00 pm. with Pastor Jaakko Romu officiating. As expressions of sympathy and prayer, memorial contributions to the Cancer Society or to the Sault Ste. Marie Finnish Pentecostal Church would be appreciated by the family.
