It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doreen Mary Viola Oldroyd, in her 95th year, Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Sault Area Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.

Devoted and loving wife of the late Albert John Oldroyd. Cherished mother of Cathy Anne Gloria Hodgkinson and John A. MacDonald.  Loving grandmother of Jessie Ranger.  Daughter of the late Lewis and Emma McMillan (nee Roddy).  Predeceased by her sisters Wilhelmina (Billie), Margaret and Phyllis and her brothers Harold, Gordon, Norval and Earl.  Precious aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Long time friend of Elaine Parker and Ernie and Angele Vincent. Special and much loved "mother" and "grandmother" to Diane Adams and Colleen Bishop.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Patterson, Dr. Sante Fratesi, Dr. Nadim Haider, Dr. David Berry, Dr. Gary Sibbald, Jennifer Murray and Sam Cunningham for all their dedicated and compassionate care over the years.

Doreen's favourite pastime was "talking" via computer, sending out her "smile page" and listening to Elvis Presley music.  She was without a doubt one of Elvis' greatest fans. In earlier years, she was the president and founder of the Till We Meet Again Elvis Presley Fan Club in Sault Ste. Marie, hosting many Elvis dances at various halls in the city.  Another cherished pastime was spending time at the cottage at Upper Island Lake.  This was Doreen's "happy place". She and her late husband, John, enjoyed the lake's tranquility, and were blessed with many friends in the area.

Family and friends may gather at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 1 pm until 2:45 pm.  Funeral service to follow in the chapel at 3 pm.  The Venerable Hugh Hamilton officiating.  Donations by cheque or online to the Lung Association, the Kidney Foundation or the Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Oldroyd family.
