At the F J Davey Home, with his loving family by his side, Mike passed away peacefully in his 90th year. Predeceased by his wife Jill and Grandson Shane. Loving father of Brent (Sandra (Anna Marie)) and Karen. Mike had a special closeness with his only granddaughter Stephanie Elliot (Mike) and his great grandchildren Brynn and Matthew. Predeceased by his parents Stephan and Mary Nowitski. Survived by his siblings Anne, Effie, Rose and Caroleen and predeceased by Walter, Pauline, Amelia, Johnny and Elizabeth. As the eldest of 10 children, Mike took on the role of patriarch and was always ready with a helping hand. He so loved Christmastime and having a houseful of visitors. He was so talented in all that he did from repairing cars to plumbing to taking things part and making them run again. He was a dedicated Supervisor at Algoma Steel and just prior to his retirement he completed his dream trip of driving to Alaska. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and in his later years enjoyed the Casino. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Stephen Klepatz for being there for Mike. A private family service will be held. Friends are invited to a Come and Go at 513 Placid Ave on Monday December 3, 2018 from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Memorial donations in Mike’s name may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Humane Society.
