October 18, 1945 - September 25, 2020

Beloved son of the late Willard and late Mabel Myers.  Much loved brother to John (Sharon) of Toronto, Susan of Sault Ste. Marie and a very proud Uncle Dave to Derek Myers (Kaye) and Mark Myers (Antonella Greco), of Toronto.  David was born and raised and lived in the Sault most of his life, he loved his community.  David was a consummate volunteer.  He worked hard to start up a Teen Centre in the former Sault Collegiate and had a soft spot for struggling young people. David received recognition for over 20 years of service with Salvation Army and Soup Kitchen picking up the food bag donations at all local grocery stores.  He sat on the Board of the Soup Kitchen and delivered Meals on Wheels.  Declining health forced him to give it all up.  David was quick to volunteer with Rotary, ALS, Ontario Winter Games and other special events.  He was the best election sign manager ever according to his late father.  David  supported, many candidates over the years, mostly in the Conservative party.  David also helped a few municipal candidates – especially his sister. In 2006, Susan had the most robust sign campaign ever seen for a ward councillor. David was everybody’s friend.  His grin was ear to ear when meeting up with a pal; he genuinely loved people and sports.  Particularly his Tigers and San Fran 49ers. David was a world class Master Bridge Player and competed successfully with various bridge partners in many tournaments over the years. If you were David’s friend, he had your back – always.  Generous to a fault, he would give you anything you needed, and defend you against anyone, anytime.  In keeping with David’s heart, please take time to visit with a friend, lift a glass together, share some stories and laugh a lot.  Condolences can be sent to the family c/o [email protected].

The family would like to express gratitude to Lorraine Matheson and the team at Pathways.  To Dr. Megan Culina, David’s primary physician, to Dr. Gu, Dr. Reich, Dr. Baath for their care regarding David’s acute colitis.  To Dr. Waqas and Dr. Murdoch in particular for their exceptional care for David while in SAH these past six weeks and to all of the nurses on 3B 319 wing and 3A 326 wing.  The care David received at Sault Area Hospital was extraordinary.  If desired, donations in David’s memory can be made (payable by cheque or online) to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522). Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave a message of condolence for Dave's family.
