It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William Eric Murray at the age of 89 at his home.
Eric was predeceased by his wife of 33 years Joyce (Penfold). Together they had three sons Larry (Chris), Ken and Rick. Grandfather of Nicole, Jeff, Jennifer, Brittany, Kerri and Richard. Great-grandfather of Kayla, Lawrence, Chase, Cole, Kassandra, and Elsbeth. Great-great grandfather of Ben and Braden. Eric will be sadly missed by his fur babies Princess and Wanda.
Eric was also predeceased by his second wife of 33 years Marilyn (Cartwright) - mother of Mark, Connie, Tom and the late Kimber.
Eric was the son of Thomas and Sarah Murray. He was predeceased by his sisters Vi Corey (Jack) and Leona Duffield (Al) and is survived by his brother Les Murray (Mary).
Eric retired after many years of service as an iron worker at Algoma Steel Inc. He and Marilyn will be remembered as local artists who captured the majesty of Northern Ontario through their art at his home in Harmony Beach.
The family would like to thank Sharon, Anna and Linda for the wonderful dinners and treats that they made for Eric. As well, thank you to Bayshore Homecare, Meals on Wheels and Dr. Booth for their care and compassion.
In keeping with Eric’s wishes, no service will be held. A memorial service will be announced at a future date. Memorial donations may be made payable to or online to the Sault Ste Marie Humane Society or to the Meals on Wheels (Sault Ste Marie).
