On December 6, 2018, Tunie earned her wings and is flying peacefully with her beloved son, Ryan. Born August 7, 1952 to the late Edwin and Valeda McAuley (nee Burns). She leaves behind her daughters, Kerri (Mark) and Kim (Wayne). Tunie was a devoted Grama to her 6 grandchildren (she would always say she wished she would have had them first). Left to mourn are Steven, Brandon & Joselyn Baxter, Madison & Myles Madill and Caryn Mitchell-McQueen (Thunder Bay). Only sister of the late Brian (Shirley) of Edmonton, the late twin brother Edwin, Mark (Hay River, NWT), David (Carol) and Al (Chicago). Favourite niece of Adrian Burns “Uncle Doc”. Aunt and cousins to many. Special best friend to Susan Coe. The family would like to thank all the medical staff involved with her care, especially her homecare nurses. Brandi, Caitlind and Leo for the exceptional care and compassion. Thank you to family and friends for their ongoing love and support.

Those who knew our mom knew that she had a crazy obsession with skunks. Her collection is quite remarkable. The Garden River’s Bingo profits must have decreased immensely when Tunie was no longer able to attend. Another passion of hers was to attend the Greyhound hockey games with her uncle Doc. Even when she was too ill to attend, she would watch the games on TV with her friend Susan while sipping iced coffees and talking on the phone to uncle Doc. Tunies career at Algoma Steel spanned over 30 years and had many work friends.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at O’Sullivan Funeral Home, 215 St. James St (corner of Cathcart & St. James St) from 6-9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Precious Blood Cathedral (778 Queen St. East) at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARCH.
