Alfred Thomas Mitchell, in his 76th year, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, September 1, 2002. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Violet (Rivers), his children Sandra, David Sr. (Lillian), Linda Montpetit (Michael), Donna Lemay (Mike Sr.), Tom (Catherine), Elizabeth (Liddy) (Brian) and Joseph. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, David Jr. and Sarah Mitchell, Bryanna Montpetit, Jason and Michael Jr. (Tamara) Lemay, Jennifer, Emily, and Kate Mitchell, Cassandra Mitchell, Taylor and Sierra Mitchell. Survived by his 3 sisters, Pauline Thompson, Jeanne Wilcox and Yvonne Stein. Predeceased by his parents and one sister. At the request of Alf, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at Mother of God Church, Goulais River on Wednesday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Don McMillan officiating.
