Mary Ann Nukk Mercier, 83, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 in Virginia Beach, Virginia surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ann was born September 5, 1939 to Heino and Angeline Nukk in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada and attended Sault Technical and Commercial High School where she played basketball.
Mary Ann became a Navy wife when she married Gary Mercier and moved to the United States in 1958. They moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1966, and she settled in Virginia Beach, Virginia after their divorce.
She worked in the electronics industry for several years and then at US Flag and Signal for 22 years, retiring in 2020 at the age of 80. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing ceramics, sewing, crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading books.
She is survived by her children Terry Roberts, Gary Mercier Jr. (wife Carol) and Larry Mercier (wife Dawn); her grandchildren Kari Pope, Krystle Wood, Sheryl Dutton, Garrett Mercier, and Laura Hanschow; and her great grandchildren Dahlia and Jasper.
In Canada, she is also survived by her brother Mike Nukk (wife Jackie), and his daughters Kathy, Lori Ann and Carrie Lynn and their children.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
