After a brief illness at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the age of 85.
Predeceased by her husband Blair and her parents Jack and Sophie Cornish. Loving mother to Mark McDermid (Mary-Anne) and Joanne Rout (Bill). Grandmother to the late Jason McDermid (Shirley Gilpin), Tyler McDermid (Roseanna) and Zack McDermid (Randi Sinclair). Great grandmother to Dylan, Sebastian, Jameson, Autumn, Theo and Isla. Predeceased by her sister Dolly Roberts (late David) and her brother Clarence 'Chic' Cornish (Irene). Shirley loved her children unconditionally. She enjoyed going to camp, feeding chipmunks and watching the hummingbirds.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rest in Peace Mom until we meet again.
