January 23, 1938 - January 23, 2023

Passed away peacefully at the Davey Home on her 85th birthday after a long battle with dementia.

Irene was born in Aberdeen, Scotland to Jessie and Alexander Fraser. She worked as a legal secretary until she met the love of her life, Alex Findlay. When he emigrated to Canada, she followed soon after. Within the next few years, their daughters Shona and Sharon were born.

Mom and Dad made many good friends through their golfing days, including Mom’s best friend, Joan Young. Over the years, Mom and Dad had countless adventures while traveling and camping together. At home, Mom loved spending time making her gardens look spectacular.

Several years after Alex passed, Irene was lucky to find love a second time. She married Ron McCool and they shared their love of music for many years.

Mother of Shona Ingram (Ray) and Sharon Dion (Brad). Grandmother of Jessica Borrelli (Antonio), Mike Dion (Christina), Sara Hayhurst (Kyle) and Cory Ingram. Great-Granny of Colton Borrelli.

A heartfelt thank you to Joan Young for her continued love and support to Mom throughout the years.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Davey Home for their amazing care over the past seven years, especially to the incredible people on Birch 3, Kari, Amber, Tara and the rest of the team. A special thank you to her bestie, Jennifer, for all the extra care given to Irenie Bobeenie. The Activities team added a lot of joy and fun to Mom’s life at the home.

A private family gathering was held. If desired, donations to the FJ Davey Home Activities Program in honour of mom would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E., 705-759-2522).

Mom was known for many things: her sense of fun and adventure, her love of music and dance, her Great Escape to the casino, and her colourful language! We’ll miss your sass, your spunk, and your stories.
Good night, Irene.
