Mattinen, Mr Otto Johannes

Peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family at the Thessalon Hospital on Wednesday November 7, 2012.  Otto Mattinen of Thessalon, in his 89_^th year, beloved husband of Irma Mattinen.  Dear son of the late John and Lempi Mattinen.  Dear brother of Lea Simonson (late Wilfred) of Phoenix Arizona, Ron Mattinen (Viola) of Timmins and the late Oliver and Archie.  Otto will be sadly missed by the Arsenault family.  Survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends.  Otto was born in Tornio Finland and immigrated to Timmins Ontario in 1929.  He had a long career with Hydro in Abitibi Canyon and continued his career in Thessalon where he and his wife resided for 42 years.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors with his lifelong fishing partner, Irma.  Friends may call at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon on Saturday November 10, 2012 from 11am to 1pm and at Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home, Timmins on Monday November 12 from 11am until time of service in the chapel at 1 o’clock.  Interment in Timmins Memorial Cemetery.  Special thanks to his niece Cathy Woldanski for taking such good care of Otto during his short illness.  Donations to the Thessalon Hospital or the charity of your choice gratefully accepted.  For online condolences please visit the Beggs Funeral Home at www.beggsfh.com or the Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home at www.lessardstephens.com
